  1. Unzip the download anywhere you like.
  2. Run OMF2097.exe. No installer, launcher or account.
  3. If SmartScreen warns about an unrecognized app, choose More info, then Run anyway.

What's new in this build:

  • A Mac build. One Must Fall 2097 now has an Apple Silicon Mac build, shipped as a .dmg (drag to Applications). It is the same game as the PC release: tournament, arcade, single match and the original data and music. Online Versus is not on Mac.

  1. Open the DMG and drag One Must Fall 2097 to Applications.
  2. This build is not notarized yet. The first time, right-click the app and choose Open.
  3. Single-player only. Online Versus is not on Mac.

What's new in this build:

  • The pilot's name lands in the name box. On the new pilot screen the name you type now appears inside the black name slot, with the cursor, instead of on the metal below it, and the "ENTER PILOT'S NAME" prompt no longer runs into the slot. Same on PC and phone.

Tournament

01 // The career mode

Create or load a pilot, pick an event, and fight the ladder for prize money. Spend it on repairs, training, upgrades and new robots between matches. Values and prices come from OpenOMF and the original data.

Arcade and Single Match

02 // Straight to the fight

Run the full arcade ladder, fighting every pilot and then Major Kreissack, or jump into one match against the computer. Two players can share a keyboard for local versus.

Eleven HARs

03 // The whole roster

Jaguar, Shadow, Thorn, Pyros, Electra, Katana, Shredder, Flail, Gargoyle, Chronos, Nova: every robot from the original is playable across five arenas.

04 // Keyboard, gamepad, mouse

Arrow keys, the original keypad layout and gamepads are all live at once, and the menus take the mouse. No launcher and no account.

OpenOMF reverse-engineered the original game, and their open-source code drives the fights. Epic Games makes Unreal Engine. Their work made this remake possible. The Unreal 3D port is by LineCrush Games.

  • Unofficial and free. One Must Fall 2097 belongs to Diversions Entertainment, which released it as freeware in 1999. This remake is a non-commercial tribute with no price, no ads and no in-app purchases, and it is not affiliated with or endorsed by Diversions Entertainment.
  • How it was made. The 3D robot models and the HD UI remasters were made with AI tools from the original designs. The music and sound are the original recordings, and nothing is generated while you play.
